Hop to It - This Week's Neighborhood Tour...

I continued to explore properties on the market in West Village and Chelsea to take advantage of the surprisingly lovely Easter weather.

Today, I visited 5 properties between West 26th and Jane Street. Open houses notices for sponsor unit listings, unique layouts, and apartments with outdoor space drew my eye on the OLR site this morning. I whittled the list down to a group of 5 or 6 options, and headed out.

My previews today ended on Horatio Street.  But, the day starts off on W. 26th Street for an open house in a converted factory building. The neighborhood has great cityscape views that include views of the Empire State Building. There is plenty of street life outside the front door and the lobby provided a nice transition to a quieter place.

The only way I can describe this space is expansive.  The quality of the light shining thru the windows reminded me of a warm summer afternoon.  As I explored the two levels, I kept turning another corner into another space!

Spring was on full display for the length of the block as I headed south to see two 1-bedroom apartments in Chelsea.  West 24th Street holds London Terrace on the south side, and a series of low rise buildings on the north.

The apartment on West 24th Street was nicely renovated, with a sunny living and kitchen spaces.  The layout used all the space wisely - and felt very inviting.  Then only a few short blocks to West 21st Street.

The next open house was offered in a brownstone near the William Harris school.  The  columns alongside the front door were a nice external detail.  Inside, I found great storage, a window in the kitchen and a full separate bedroom for the price of many studios!

From here, it is time to head below 14th street to Horatio and Jane Street.  I wandered down West 20th Street as I headed south.  As an aficionado of an English Muffin with Peanut Butter for breakfast, I was pleased to stumble across the Muffin House at 337 West 20th Street along the way.

I'd seen the listing for the studio on Jane Street.  The building was on the corner of Hudson - and yet remained quiet quiet quiet!  This studio is my favorite stop of the day.  Let's see:  A great main area layout and tons of closet space, a separate renovated kitchen with space for a cafe table, plus a windowed renovated bathroom.

By this time, it was close to 3pm - and the afternoon sun was still going strong.  I hurried over to Horatio for my final stop.   A 1-bedroom, with a large living space, and renovated bathroom was waiting.  The best part was the view from the bedroom window - straight across to the start of the High Line.  In fact, the different window pattern traces the original course of the tracks through the building on the right.

The day comes to a close in Washington Commons, an open space for all to enjoy.  My conclusion:  great spaces to find and great deals to be struck are waiting in the West Village and Chelsea.  If you would like to find a great deal in the West Village or Chelsea, please contact me today!
