In this zone, Tenth Avenue is sprinkled with many interesting building and facades - glass, steel, angles, contrasts. On west 18th street, geometry was on display with the Chelsea Modern. At the Chelsea Modern, a work-live duplex was an interesting proposition. Although the lower level of the duplex was below grade, the developer used glass blocks from the sidewalks above to allow natural light to enter the room. Creative solution!
During this tour, duplex layouts with great space were the name of the day. In addition to the duplex on west 18th, I also previewed a coop duplex on west 20th. The feature of this duplex that stood out for me was the media room and the private master suite on the lower level.
Despite all this condo and duplex talk, the property that I enjoyed the most during this tour was a co-op. I walk by London Terrace Towers every school morning as I walk my daughter to school at PS 33. Each time I'd pass this building, I'd look at the building and note 'I need to learn more about this property.' So, an open house was the perfect invitation to have a look inside. Once inside, it definitely didn't disappoint. The home seemed to have more room for closet space than some of the apartments I've seen :). It felt bright and airy - and the location at 24th and Ninth Ave was great! The buildings overall were solidly constructed and are extremely well maintained. You should peek into the common garden area too - a private oasis awaits you.
